Douglas Fry Roofing was started in 1981 by Doug Fry. Starting in the roofing industry in the mid 1970's, learning the skills and workmanship from two local "old school" roofers, would lead the foundation of the 30 plus years we have been in business. Installing and shingling by hand, Doug learned the values of hard work and the commitment of knowing to to install the job right no matter the size or complexity of a project.
In the early 1990's during the new construction boom, Douglas Fry Roofing became the go to roofing contract for high end roofing projects. From concrete tile roofs, slate roofing systems, to cedar shake shingles. When the job was too complex for other contractors, they would call Doug Fry to get the job done.
Wanting to give back what Doug Fry learned from his early training, Doug personally trains each roofer to the standards that he has developed with over 30 years of experience. He wanted to give others a skill and trade that would give them a sense of self worth and accomplishment that was given to him.
At Douglas Fry roofing, we take pride in knowing we have developed a different company than most other roofing companies throughout the Midwest. Doug Fry wants everyone who works for him to feel like family. With that in mind, everyone who works for Douglas Fry Roofing is an employee. Not a sub contractor or 1099 like most roofing contractors throughout Wichita and the Midwest use. We wanted a higher standard for ourselves and our community. What does this mean and how does this benefit you as a homeowner looking for a roofing contractor? We take care of our employees so they can take care of you. We have no commissioned salespeople. You will deal directly with Doug Fry. We also pay workman comp, and general liability insurance on our employees unlike many roofing contractors that use sub contract crews, that are dependent on the crews to carry insurance. This also ensures that we pay payroll tax on everyone who works for us. We have developed a system to do the right thing for your home, our city and the state of Kansas.
